Dare To Declare The Things You Are Dreaming About

When you say something out loud and acknowledge it as truth, you are declaring it…  you are affirming it. And whether you call it an affirmation, a declaration, a statement, or a proclamation, it will impact your life in some way. It will impact how you feel about yourself, what you do, and what you get out of life. Perhaps one of the best videos I’ve found to describe this is the sermon given by Joel Osteen focused on how your words become your reality.

Choose to be happy

This video is what convinced me that I need to stop affirming crap to myself and start ONLY declaring the things I want to happen in my life. It also helped me realize that negative thoughts may come, but that doesn’t mean I need to verbalize them.

If you are struggling with the desire to use positive affirmations or cut out negative words from your life, I highly suggest you take half an hour out of your day to watch this video. Whether you are religious or not, the message should resonate with you.

A Few Key Points That I Took From The ‘Words Become Reality’ Sermon By Joel Osteen

This sermon really struck a chord with me. I hope it did the same for you.

Right after it, I stopped saying anything negative. I was already using positive affirmations in my life, but I was still saying negative thoughts out loud. That ended after I heard Joel Osteen talk about the power of saying negative affirmations.

I knew that no matter how many positive affirmations I said, I would never counteract the negativity I was bringing in my life through my negative affirmations.

Interestingly, the first night after I stopped declaring negative things out loud, I slept more soundly than I had in a long time. And, when I woke up occasionally throughout the night, I felt peaceful in a way that I had not felt for a long time.

It was absolutely amazing how quickly things felt better in my life.

A few things that I really took note of include while Joel Osteen was talking include:

  • The negative thoughts will come, the key is to not say them. So, it’s not about trying to only think positively. It’s about what you affirm out loud. This gives you the freedom to have those negative thoughts without beating yourself up.
  • It’s one thing to think about it, it’s another thing to say it. I have always felt bad when I talk negatively. I’m sure you have too. It just feels bad to complain and talk about the worst-case scenario. I believe that’s because you are harping on the negative and completely focused on it, and your words take on an energy that your thoughts can’t take on.
  • You can talk yourself out of your destiny. This is so true. Often negative thoughts can hold you back for a second, but they drift away eventually, and that gives you an opportunity to take action on the things you want. But, when you are consistently affirming negative things about yourself and your future, you are less likely to take action and move towards the things you really want in your life.
