12 Affirmations For Self-Love That Are So Important To Say

You need to love yourself more. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that you cannot depend on other people’s love to make you feel good about yourself. There is a chance that you might be surrounded by a bunch of people who don’t love you one day, and you will need to love yourself so that it won’t matter what they say or think. Your self-love is uplifting and carries you through the tough time and helps you make good decisions. And, when you love yourself more, you feel better about yourself no matter what is going on around you or in your life. Always remember that unconditional love is only available from yourself, so work on developing it.

Love Yourself More By Using These 12 Affirmations

12 Affirmations To Use If You Want To Love Yourself More

1. I Am Good Enough

When you are critical of yourself, you can’t engage in self-love. You are too busy judging yourself.

Using the affirmation, I am good enough, will help you affirm that no matter what happens, you are still worthy of love.

Just because you made a mistake, don’t know something (yet), or feel like you are having a hard time, doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. It means you are human and that you are going through human experiences and emotions! It’s impossible to not make mistakes, not fail, not know something, or not go through hard times when you are human.

You are good enough.

2. I Make The Right Decisions At The Right Time

Many times we hate ourselves because we feel like we screwed up. But we didn’t.

Every decision we make is based on what we know and what we think we should do. It’s not a mistake. It’s the best decision we can make at the time.

But, we can learn from wrong decisions. And, we can learn from decisions that are obviously not the best. That’s the beauty of living. You live and you learn.

So, don’t beat yourself up for past decisions. Affirm to yourself that you make the right decisions at the right time and give yourself some self-love over the choices you’ve made in life.

3. I Only Speak Kindly About Myself

You may have negative thoughts, but don’t express them and give them power. When you verbalize negative thoughts about yourself, you are putting your negativity out there in a way you can’t when you are just thinking of them.

Thoughts pass when you don’t verbalize them. But, when you give them power by verbalizing them, they stick around and even accumulate, making it harder and harder to love yourself more.

4. I Can Love Myself

When you affirm to yourself that you can’t love yourself, for whatever reason, you won’t love yourself.

I once heard someone say, “I haven’t loved myself for most of my life, so I can’t start now!”

That’s not true. That’s a bullshit rule – or ‘brule’ as Vishen Lakhiani would say.

If you don’t think you can love yourself, then make this affirmation come true.

  • Build up your skills and realize how awesome you are.
  • Work on your personal development and expand your awareness around what you are capable of.
  • Tackle things about yourself that you don’t like and replace them with things about yourself that you do like.

The more you take action on your happiness and growth, the easier it will be to love yourself.

5. I Love My Imperfections

Stop complaining about your imperfections. Now. Don’t ever do it again.

This article talks about how perfectionism is bad for you – like, really, really bad. It can shorten your lifespan, cause all kinds of physical and mental problems, and make it hard to recover from issues.

And hating your imperfections definitely keeps you from self-love.

6. I Accept Myself As I Am

You are you. Don’t get stuck in the trap of wanting to be different because it’s so hard to get out of it.

No matter where you are in your life, accept yourself for who you are. Doing this will not only allow you to love yourself more, but it will also allow you to acknowledge when things aren’t working and when you need to step up your game or do something differently.

Don’t wish to be better. Accept yourself for who you are now while realizing the potential you have to grow in life.

7. I Have Many Amazing Qualities

You do have many amazing qualities, so affirm it! You may not want to admit it, but you do.

If you can’t think of any amazing qualities you have, ask your friends or family members.

Get out a sheet of paper and every time you notice something awesome about yourself, write it down.

  • When you have success, write it down.
  • When you make someone feel good, write it down.
  • When you do something good in the world, write it down.
  • When you help someone out, write it down.

Soon you will start to realize how true this affirmation really is. And, that will help you love yourself more as the amazing person that you are.

8. I Forgive Myself

When you can’t forgive yourself, you can’t love yourself more.

Therefore, use this self-love affirmation daily. Stand in front of the mirror and say this out loud as you look you in the eyes. It’s powerful!

A lot of what you need to forgive yourself for is letting people step on you or use you. This will become easier as you use the other affirmations in this list.

And, a lot of what you need to forgive yourself for is your mistakes and failures. And, again, this will become easier as you use the other affirmations in this list.

As you move forward, make boundaries. Get clear on what you will and will not accept in your life. This will help you reduce the number of things you feel like you need to forgive yourself for in the future.

9. I Do What Makes Me Happy

When you are about to do something that you hate or makes you feel bad, use this self-love affirmation and switch gears. Doing something that makes you feel good, pampered, or respected will help you love yourself more quickly.

For instance, a friend of mine used to do things that were against her morals because her group of friends wanted to do them. She hated herself because of it. As soon as she affirmed to herself that she was only going to do things that made her feel good, she stopped going against her morals and started doing things in line with them. She instantly loved herself more because of it.

10. I Take Care Of Myself

When we love someone, we take care of them. If you want to love yourself more, take care of yourself. Make your health and happiness a priority and you will quickly start to love yourself more.

Take care of your brain, body, and mental health. Learn daily, exercise, and practice good mental health habits.

11. I Am Grateful That I…

You should use this affirmation daily and fill in the blanks.

I find that when I feel down about something that happened to me, this affirmation can quickly pivot me from anger, hurt, or despair to contentment (a much better feeling for self-love) and sometimes even happiness.

In short, it’s a great way to stop self-hate and turn it into self-love.

Get yourself a gratitude journal and write down what you are grateful for about yourself daily. You will be shocked at how well this works.

12. I Share My Story

You have a lot to share. All the good and bad things that have happened to you are a story waiting to impact someone else. You will love yourself more when you realize the truth behind this.

If you want to learn more about how to share your story, I highly recommend Speak and Inspire by Lisa Nichols. It’s a great course that teaches you how to own your past hurts and successes and share them so that they can impact other people in a positive way.

But, you don’t have to share with the masses. You can help people in your direct life tackle issues with what you have learned from your past.

For instance, you can help a friend struggling with an issue you have overcome in the past. Or you can teach a powerful lesson to someone who has not made a mistake you made but is on their way to doing it.

Your value cannot be understated. You have a lot to teach other people based on your life’s experiences, and you should be proud of that fact and feel a lot of self-love because of it.
