What Is The Real Meaning Of Peace?

The real meaning of peace is not just the absence of war or violence. True peace comes when we have a sense of calm and contentment in our hearts, even in the midst of trials and difficulties.

But the word peace actually has a much deeper meaning than that. The Hebrew word for peace, shalom, means “completeness, wholeness, or well-being.” It is used to describe a state of harmony or tranquility.

In the Bible, God’s promise of peace is not just the absence of war or conflict. It is a promise of wholeness and restoration. When we have peace with God, we are made whole and complete in Him. We are restored to a right relationship with Him. And when our relationship with God is right, everything else falls into place. We have peace with ourselves and with others.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

 

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

When we focus on God’s peace, it will help us to quiet the turmoil and anxiety that so often fills our hearts and minds. We can rest in His promises and know that He is in control. We don’t have to be afraid or troubled because we know that He is with us always, even in the midst of our trials.

He is the Prince of Peace and His peace can reign in our hearts, minds, and lives if we let it. So whatever you are facing today, know that God’s peace is available to you. Just ask Him for it and then receive it by faith.

Trust that He will give you the peace you need for every situation.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

When we pray, we can bring our anxieties and concerns to God. We can let Him know what is troubling us and ask for His help. And as we do, we can trust that He will give us the peace we need. His peace will guard our hearts and minds against worry and fear. So don’t be anxious about anything today. Instead, take everything to God in prayer and let His peace rule in your heart.

How Do You Bring Peace?

By reading and studying the Bible verses about peace, you can learn how to have a calm and untroubled mind. You can also learn how to have peace in difficult situations.

One way to have peace is to let go of your anger. Ephesians 4:26-27 says, “In your anger do not sin.” If you are angry, do not let it turn into hatred or bitterness. Instead, pray for the person or situation that has made you angry.

Another way to have peace is to forgive those who have wronged you. Colossians 3:13 says, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” When we forgive others, it shows that we trust God to take care of us and provide for us.

A third way to have peace is to focus on good things. Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” When we focus on good things, it helps us to have a peaceful mind.
