The Cherubim are a class of celestial beings mentioned in a wide variety of ancient religious texts and artworks. They are typically described as having human-like heads with wings, and are often associated with aspects of the divine such as wisdom, purity, and protection.

The word “cherub” is derived from the Hebrew word kərūb, which can be translated to mean “strong one,” “mighty one,” or “hero.” Cherubim are mentioned several times in the Hebrew Bible, particularly in the Book of Ezekiel where they are described in great detail. In Ezekiel 10:1-22, for example, the prophet describes them as creatures with four faces (human, lion, ox, and eagle) and four wings covered in eyes. They are also said to have coiled, wheel-like appendices called “wheels within wheels.”

Cherubim are often used as a symbol of God’s love and mercy, as well as His power and might. They are often depicted in art as protectors of the holy city of Jerusalem, and are sometimes shown guarding the entrance to the Garden of Eden. In Christianity, Cherubim are generally associated with the archangels Michael and Gabriel.

The word “cherub” can also be used to refer to a young child, particularly a cute or innocent-looking one. This usage is thought to be derived from the belief that Cherubim watch over and protect infants and children.Cherubim are mentioned in a number of ancient texts and artwork, including the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Ezekiel, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. They are also a popular motif in Christian art, often being depicted as protectors of infants and children.
