15 Fulfilling Ways to be Diligent

Diligence is probably one of the traits that most people find hard to achieve. With the increasing number of distractions around, such as social media, the Internet, and mobile games, sometimes it becomes difficult to stay focused on what needs to be done. Admit it, once you feel tired or bored with what you do, you have the tendency to leave it for the meantime and just go somewhere else to enjoy yourself.

However, if you want to be successful, then being diligent or hard-working should be one of your top qualities. It allows you to accomplish more in lesser time, without sacrificing quality.

Now, if you want to be a diligent person, then the following ways can help you fulfill your goal:

1. Rise up early.

A diligent person wakes up early so s/he can do more tasks each day. If you want to be an early riser, then it means you need to train yourself to sleep early every night. This is necessary so you can avoid the temptation of sleeping in, and your energy will be completely recharged.

2. Put God first.

If you acknowledge that you need God’s help to be productive each day, then the first thing you should do in the morning is to spend time with Him through prayer and meditating His word. Reading the Bible will give you wisdom on how to be a better worker.

3. Exercise every morning.

Doing regular exercise every morning will help you shake off laziness from your body. It boosts your energy level for the day, making you more active and alert. It can also help you to stay healthy, which is necessary to avoid getting sick.

4. Have a goal to accomplish in a certain period.

Goals serve as a person’s direction. You can set daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly goals. Following these goals will help you focus on what is important. By knowing your priorities, you can avoid wasting time, energy, and resources on those that have no value at the moment.

5. Be a good planner.

Plans contain practical and specific steps on how to achieve your goals. You can use a planner to plot down your to-do list for each day and the other tasks for the rest of the week or month that will contribute to the accomplishment of your goals.

6. Be inspired by yourself or your loved ones.

Another way to pursue diligence is by staying motivated. Nothing can beat love from inspiring you to work hard and be your best. If you know that your success in the future can make your family proud, and it can help them, then it will encourage you to push harder until you have reached your goals. Self-improvement is also an effective inspiration.

7. Overcome procrastination.

The biggest enemy of diligence is procrastination. It distracts you from your tasks, keeps you idle for hours, and makes you unproductive for the whole day. If you want to be diligent, then you need to keep yourself moving around and focused on what you need to do for the day. Do not give yourself a chance to be idle, except for a short time of rest, so your momentum to work hard will keep going.

8. Discipline yourself not to sleep until everything in your to-do list for the day has been accomplished.

One effective way to be diligently productive is by dutifully accomplishing your daily to-do list. This may seem a bit tough, but disciplining yourself not to go to bed until everything is done may help you be more responsible in managing your time during the day. Of course, there are exemptions to the rule, like when there are unexpected plan changes or there is an emergency.

9. Finish tasks ahead of time.

A diligent person knows how to manage his/her time wisely in order to avoid cramming and delays. Last-minute working produces mediocre or even erroneous outputs, which will reflect your personality and affect your employer/teacher’s impression of you. It may also create problems for other people, especially the organization you are part of.

10. Be focused.

Focus is the key to accomplishing much in a given time. Focusing on your priorities for the day or week means avoiding any distractions that can delay your tasks. You must also learn to say “no” to invitations or errands—unless highly urgent and important—that can disrupt your plans for that certain period.

11. Learn to say “no” to pleasure.

In connection to #10, self-control is necessary if you want to be a diligent person. Unless you have already finished your duties for the day, be willing to sacrifice enjoyment for the meantime. If you set aside your original plan now, then your tasks will be piled up tomorrow.

12. Do not grumble.

No matter how tired you are, avoid complaining about how much you need to do. Grumbling will dampen your mood to work hard, and it will cause you to work haphazardly.

13. Value time as gold.

Time management is the best friend of diligent people. They know how important it is to use their time productively so that they will be able to avoid the stress that comes with cramming and second-rate work outputs. Practice coming to the office early so you do not have to extend working hours just to finish your tasks for the day.

14. Be a good steward of the opportunities that have been given to you.

Just like in the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14–30, you need to handle the opportunities entrusted to you with responsibility. Work hard to nurture them and give your best in using them as a way of showing gratitude.

15. Give the best in everything you do to give glory to God.

Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,”. If you consider God to be your master and the giver of the opportunities you have now, then strive for excellence in your work and other tasks. Offer your productivity as worship to Him.

Diligence Can Be Developed

You may be struggling with procrastination, lack of time management, and laziness now, but it does not mean you can never achieve diligence. It just starts with determination and discipline. As you keep working hard to make it a habit, one day you would just wake up realizing that you have become more responsible already.

I look around daily all the time, day in and day out with an,, any old way type of fashion, doing things in a clumsy, lazy, having no confidence, and discipline, in the things that i hope for, and always want to wonder “why not me”, why can’t i have this or that….etc.,etc.! I could go on and on. Now,,I would look at the world in a so much different sort of way if i, when i, excercise “The Diligence”, along with getting issues taken care of, and using concentration, on things and goals that i set out to achieve on a daily basis. DILIGENCE. PRACTICING DILIGENCE. EXCERCISING IT WISELY. WILL MAKE A WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR ME TO LIVE IN. DILIGENCE. Is what i’m going to pray to My God forever and ever so I can become a so much better man to him and also to myself and family.
