Top 5 Affirmations To Help You Unfriend Most Of Your Facebook ‘Friends’

Facebook is one of the worst social media platforms for friendships. It has a bunch of fake people posting fake stuff so that you believe their life is much different than it actually is. I have deleted all of my ‘friends’ except for my best friend who lives across the country and spends the majority of her time on Facebook. It’s the easiest way to stay in contact with her. But, even my best friend posts fake stuff that I know is not true, and it drives me up the wall. Facebook is good for connecting in groups with like-minded people, but when it comes to ‘friends’, Facebook is mostly fake and a waste of your time. So, how do you gather up the strength to unfriend Angela and her perfect (and annoying) pictures or John and his rants about the government? Use the following affirmations.

Top 5 Affirmations To Use When You Want To Unfriend Fakebook Friends

Top 5 Affirmations To Help You Unfriend Most Of Your Facebook 'Friends'

1. Fakebook Friends Are Not My Friends

Let’s get back to real life.

Your friends are the people who support you, love you, talk to you on the phone occasionally, and even see you face-to-face.

Most of your Facebook friends are not your real friends.

They are your acquaintances or past friends or strangers who have another ‘friend’ in common with you.

They are people who want you to believe in what they believe in (religious updates constantly, for example) or want you to know that they support certain things (sports and causes updates constantly, for example), but they are not interested in your viewpoints and don’t necessarily want to hear about them.

If you think they do, try posting something that you are passionate about. See how many likes you get. I’m willing to bet your likes – if you get any – will be from people who are actually your friends or family in real life.

2. I Don’t Want To Devote Time To Fakebook Friends

Your time is valuable. If you spend a lot of it checking out your ‘friends’ profiles, then that is a waste of time.

Why not allocate your time to real friends, the people you hang out with and talk to about deep stuff? Or, if they are not around, why not allocate your time to yourself? You could figure out what you want, work towards goals, or just have some me-time.

I have been with my best friend, physically, while she looks at profiles of her ‘friends’ on Facebook. We are face-to-face but she chooses to spend her time looking at her high school classmates’ pictures of their new kids.

It blows my mind.

You get to choose how you spend your time, and if you want to spend it focused on people who do not impact you in any way or contribute to your life, then that’s your prerogative. But, if you want to make the most of your time, I suggest using it on your real-life friends and family, as well as yourself.

3. Everyone Doesn’t Need To Know My Business

Your Facebook friends may be following trails to figure out where you work, where you live, where you spend your time, etc. It’s not that hard to find out almost everything about a person when you are friends with them and use that information in a way that they may not want you to use it.

These people, who are not your real friends, don’t need to know your business.

And their friends, who may be able to follow your trail too, don’t need to know your business.

4. I Want To See What’s Important To Me On Facebook

I am a part of a few Facebook groups that I really enjoy. But, when I had a bunch of Facebook friends, I was more likely to see their posts than posts from the groups I liked.

Since I unfriended pretty much everyone, my news feed is clean and full of posts that I actually care about.

It also allows me to avoid the trap of looking at things (sometimes for way too much time) that have no meaning for me and, instead, engage in conversations about things that I care about.

5. I Want To Keep My Emotions Positive

Your emotions have energy attached to them. This has been proven. Everything in life has a vibration to it. When you are happy, you are vibrating at a higher energy than when you are feeling anger or grief, for example.

If you want to create positive experiences and change in your life, you need to stay at a higher vibration of love or above. That’s where you feel good, stay open to new possibilities, and take action on things that make you feel good.

How do you feel when you look at your Facebook friend’s pictures, posts, updates, whatever… do you feel good or do you feel annoyed, jealous, upset, confused, or some other negative emotion?

If you are feeling a lot of negative emotions on Facebook, then you are letting other people decide what energy you vibrate at. Don’t let that happen. Be the master of your emotions. Choose to feel good as often as possible.

Add Your Own Affirmations To Unfriend Facebook Friends

What annoys you on Facebook? What friends drive you up the wall? What would you love to stop seeing? Tweak your answers into affirmations to help you get up the courage to unfriend the ‘friends’ who are driving you nuts.

For instance, if you have a friend who posts violent images and it disturbs you, then a good affirmation would be, ‘I choose to only view positive things on Facebook.’
