Life is pretty much unpredictable. Sometimes we think we know what we’re doing or where we are going and then suddenly, life decides to throw you a curve ball. Your partner suddenly leaves you, you get fired from your job, or it might seem like you just can’t catch a break. But that’s alright because written below are ten useful ways for you to bounce back from those failures:
1. Don’t think about it.
Do your best to try and not think too much about it. It may be difficult for you to do this, especially when the situation has a big impact on your life, but you can at least try to harness all that energy into more positive things.
Thinking about it or worse, overthinking about it, will do you no good. Stop punishing yourself with all of this negative energy. If you do not pick yourself up and move on, you will stay in the same place.
2. Understand that everyone fails.
Keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes. The path to success is not a short and outstretched road. It is curvy, bumpy, and often times you don’t even know where you are going! Always remember that it’s possible to fail. The best move is to keep moving forward.
Accept your failure and take it as a challenge and not a hindrance. Think about it, if you cry and give up every time you take a little stumble, then you wouldn’t be able to finish the race. Take all the time you need.
3. Look at it in a positive way.
It might be hard for you to do this, especially when you feel like life is falling apart around you. But it is important to keep a positive mind and always hope for the better things in life. If you see the silver linings in each situation, you will never feel down and you will always be able to get up.
Surround yourself with positivity or things that make you happy. Remember that life can be pretty despite its harsh reality. Think about it, if you hit rock bottom now, there is no other way than up from here.
4. Don’t be afraid to cry it out.
Never be afraid to get emotional and to cry it out. Crying it out is one of the best ways to channel out all your pent up frustrations. Find friends with whom you can really trust and who support you, allow yourself to lean on someone else’s shoulder. Don’t try to carry the burden by yourself.
If you prefer to be alone, do it still. Crying is not a thing to be ashamed of. Whether you are a guy or a girl, it’s perfectly normal to cry if you fail. It is not a sign of weakness, but rather it shows how strong you are after you wipe out your tears and prepare yourself to get moving again.
5. Reflect on your failure.
One of the best ways to bounce back from failure is to reflect upon your situation. Ask yourself some questions, “Where did I go wrong?” or “What factors did I not consider?” Taking a step back and trying to look at the bigger picture always helps in pinpointing the little things that stopped us from doing things our way.
Reflections are a healthy way of reexamining one’s self. Refusing to reflect upon one’s actions may hinder him or herself to tackle the actual root of the problem. So don’t hesitate and confront the possible reasons for failure.
6. Make room for self-improvement.
After reflecting on your actions, do what you can to learn from it. There is always room for self-improvement. Once you know what your mistakes are, you can avoid repeating them and thus improving yourself.
As people say, you never really stop learning. The same goes for yourself, you never stop learning about yourself. Look for areas within you that you think needs to be fixed up a bit. Know your weaknesses and change them to be your biggest strengths.
7. Seek love and support.
In every path a person takes, it is always important to have friends and family who wholeheartedly support and love you. They are the hands guiding your back towards your journey of success. They are the foundation that you build upon.
Do not be afraid to seek help or support from them when you take a stumble, for that is their role. Supporting someone also means being their comfort when things don’t go as they expect. So never be afraid to reach out for hands who are caring and willing to help you get back on your feet again.
8. When a door closes, another one opens.
As a wise saying goes, “when a door closes, another one opens,” so think of this not as a missed opportunity but an arrow sign pointing you to a different path. Life is full of surprises and is often unpredictable, it takes a lot of courage to live it. Don’t worry if you feel like you don’t know where you’re going. You will eventually get there.
Everything is an opportunity if you put yourself in the right mindset. One failure is an opportunity to do better or to seek a different trail. Remember, the journey is more important than the destination.
9. Do your best to move on.
As is it is in every aspect of life, do your best to move on from it. Whether it is a failed relationship or a business venture, there is no other way but forward. If you dwell too much on it, you will never get anywhere except for the same spot you are in.
Moving on is a healthy way of dealing with failures. Do not allow it to consume your every thought and being. If you think of yourself as a failure, then you will never amount to anything but that.
10. Take it as a challenge.
Just like in video games, every hero has to fight the monsters in order to get the reward. If you see your failures as challenges, then it will help you have a better outlook in life. These failures are your stepping stones towards your reward.
With every step you take and every challenge you conquer, you get closer and closer every day to your goal. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!
It is perfectly normal to stumble from time to time. Each person’s road to success is not a straight path nor a fun ride, rather it is thorny, crooked, and sometimes you have no idea where you’re going. Oftentimes, you might trip on a rock, fall, and fail. But that’s alright, the important thing is that you know when to stand up, pat the dirt away, and keep on going.
