Have you been hurt before and feel scared to embrace a commitment to someone? Are you worried that the feeling of being committed is going to cause you to feel despair in the future? This is normal. Many people cannot embrace commitment with someone new because they are stuck in the memories and pain of the past. If you want to move past that and develop a strong bond with the person that you are with now, the following positive affirmations can help.
1. I Have Faith That Commitment Is What I Need
Your doubts are not going to go away. But they shouldn’t be the thing that holds you back from being committed to someone.
We all have doubts because none of us can predict the future. Faith is what we need to counteract those doubts and start moving forward to what we want.
Have faith that being committed to someone is what you need right now.
Have faith that this person came into your life for a reason.
Have faith that they are someone who will inspire you or help you grow in some way.
It may not work out. You don’t know what will happen. But, keep the faith that being committed right now to this person is going to serve your highest self in some way.
2. Everyone I Commit To Serves A Purpose In My Life
There is not one person from my past who didn’t serve a purpose in my life.
Some people I committed to made me stronger as I faced challenges and overcame them.
Some people I committed to made me stronger as I learned what I was really made of.
Some people I committed to supported me so that I could move up and onward in my life
There is not one person who didn’t serve a purpose in my life.
So, commit to the person knowing that no matter what happens, they will serve a purpose in your life.
3. I Am Willing To Compromise
Commitment can be scary because you must compromise with someone else. This can be uncomfortable for you. But, the trade-off – constant companionship, love, and support, is totally worth it.
Always remember that there are some things that you can only get with commitment.
Repeat the affirmation I am willing to compromise to yourself until you believe it. When you believe it, you will find yourself much more ready to commit.
4. I Want My Life To Be About More Than Just Me
When you are not committed to anyone, life is about you. You do what you want when you want. You don’t have to answer to anyone, and life is pretty much about you 24 hours a day.
But, when you commit to someone, you have to compromise and make your life about more than just you. You have to take into consideration someone else’s needs, wants, and feelings.
If that sounds horrible, think again.
When you make your life about more than just you, your life takes on a whole new meaning. You have a strong purpose to be there for someone else and be a positive person in their life, and that sense of purpose can be a driving force behind all the other areas of your life.
You may work harder so you can take care of someone you are committed to.
You may drop bad habits to become someone the person you are committed to deserves.
No matter what, you will find yourself improving your purpose in all areas of life when your life is more than just about you.
5. Being With Someone Else Feels Safe
This is one of the affirmations in the Subliminal Guru album for embracing commitment. It’s important because resistance to commitment is often because you don’t feel as if you are going to be safe when you commit to someone else. You have to let go of that resistance if you ever want to be truly happy in a relationship.
The truth is that the right person will make you feel safe.
So let the person you are committing to be innocent until proven guilty. They may be the right person.
Don’t become oblivious to bad behavior or mistreatment.
Don’t stay in an unhealthy relationship pretending you are safe and happy.
But if things are good, allow yourself to take a deep breath in and out and feel the safety that comes from a committed, loving relationship.
