One Reason You Should Always Focus On What Matters Most In Life To YOU

The past few days have been hard for me. I had a person trying to influence my life in a very negative way. He was threatening me legally. And even though there was no real validity behind what he was saying, he was very convincing and I grew terrified of what this guy was going to do. So, as most online writers or bloggers do, I spent hours researching.

I first learned everything I could about him, which ended up scaring me even more. This guy has had some very bad things happen in his life. He may be at a point where he just doesn’t give a crap, I thought.

I then researched everything I could about his threats and found that – in most cases – people don’t follow through with threats like his because the chance of them winning anything in court is so low that they would simply be wasting their time and money.

Still, I was worried. I became obsessed. And I wore my mind and body out to the point that I was letting his threats influence my path in life.

I was choosing not to do things that I needed to do in my day regarding the things that really mattered to me.

I was even going to bed early from stress and missing out on moments with my loved ones.

And then I found the following quote:

Never make a permanent decision based on a temporary storm. No matter how raging the billows are today, remind yourself: “This too shall pass!” – T.D. Jakes Quotes That Remind Us Never To Give Up

This advice is so good that I’m going to paint this quote and hang it up on a wall right where I can see it daily.

When You Put Your Focus On What Matters Most In Life, You Make Better Decisions

Once I stopped focusing on him and his threats, the things that mattered most in my life came back into focus. I realized that whether he followed through with what he threatened or not, it was a temporary situation in my life.

Why was I letting it influence my decisions and actions on things that REALLY mattered?

I realized that instead of focusing on the fear of something that may or may not come to pass, I should be focusing on what matters most in my life.

What matters most in life to me?

  • My relationships with my loved ones
  • My happiness
  • My health
  • My personal development
  • My spirituality
  • My career development

Those are the things that are going to be a constant in my life while all the other problems, and even successes, come in and out.

It doesn’t mean I shouldn’t deal with things to the best of my ability when they arise, but I shouldn’t let these things take over my life – my health, my happiness, and my relationships.

My Lesson: Focusing on what matters most in life is what helps you make the right decisions at the right time while focusing on what matters least causes you to waste time, get sick, and miss moments that really matter.

For example, while focusing on a negative person’s threats you may choose to curl up in a ball and stop doing things that further your career. You may miss some huge opportunities because of that! But, when you keep your focus on what matters most in life, you will decide to take action that will help you further your career despite that person’s threats. It will become clear that the longevity of your career trumps the ‘temporary storm’ they have created in your life.

What Matters Most In Life To YOU?

The thing is, what matters most to me right now may not matter most to you. It’s important to keep your focus on what matters most to YOU.
