Family love is one of the most important things in life. It is the foundation upon which strong families are built. The Bible tells us that family love is a gift from God, and it is something to be cherished.

Ephesians 5:25-28 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”

This passage shows us that husbands are called to love their wives selflessly, just as Christ loved the Church. Christ sacrificed himself for the Church, and husbands are called to do the same for their wives. This kind of selfless love is the foundation of a strong marriage and family.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

This passage tells us what love looks like. Love is patient and kind, and it does not keep track of wrongs. Love always protects and trusts, and it never gives up. This is the kind of love that should be at the foundation of every family.

Colossians 3:20 says, “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”

Ephesians 6:1-3 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise—so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

So from the Bible we learn that God wants us to honor our parents and to obey them. This pleases God and will result in us enjoying a long life.

But what does it mean to “honor” our parents? The Bible doesn’t give a specific definition, but we can infer from the verses above that honoring our parents means treating them with respect, obedience, and love. It means putting their needs above our own and doing what is best for them, even when it’s not what we want to do.

Family love is important to God because it reflects His own character. He is a loving God who desires what is best for us. When we love our families in this way, we are reflecting His character back to Him. And that pleases Him immensely!

So if you want to please God, make sure you are showing your family love in everything you do. Honor your parents, obey their wishes, and put their needs above your own. It will make a world of difference in your relationship with God and in the way He blesses your life.

Family love is a precious gift from God, and it is something to be cherished. Strong families are built on a foundation of selfless love and sacrifice. If you want your family to be strong, start with a foundation of love.
