Do you feel that God is working in your life? Are you excited because, finally, you have experienced a spiritual breakthrough? The question is, how can you be so sure of this? How certain are you that this is the season you have been waiting for?
For God to be able to work in your life, you need to surrender your entire life to Him first. You can do this by repenting from your sins, asking forgiveness for all of them, and putting your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is only through Him that you can access the throne of the Almighty God.
John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Once your salvation through God’s grace becomes clear to you, the Holy Spirit can finally dwell within you and be at work in your life. Through His power, your life will be transformed for God’s glory. And through Him, your mission on earth becomes clear.
So, what are the signs that God is working in your life? You can check the following out:
1. You are Determined to Change for the Better.
If you are already in Christ, the first thing that God will be working on in your life is your heart. With repentance from your sins comes transformation. Knowing that you do not live for yourself anymore, you will have that motivation to change yourself. You will be more determined to leave your negative habits entirely and change your character. In short, you will be on your way to being the new creation God intends you to be.
2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!”
2. He Sends People to Help You Improve.
Of course, it will be difficult to change on your own. That is why God will send you people who will be a good influence on you. You will be surrounded by mature Christians who will pray and guide you as you strive to live for the Lord.
For this to happen, God will send you to a local church where you will be nurtured spiritually. It will be your spiritual family, and with them, you can grow more in your faith and knowledge of God.
3. People Can See You Are Different Already.
As time goes by, the people who know you will notice that you have changed. It may not be a quick character transformation, but they will indeed observe that you are gradually changing. For instance, your family may notice that you are more loving, respectful, and responsible. Or your friends may observe that you are kinder, more patient, and more disciplined already.
The more you seek to know God and change your ways, the more Christlike you become. Your transformation is essential so that God’s power will be evident in your life. Through your life testimony, many will be drawn to Him and have hope that they can change too.
4. You are Enjoying Your Walk with God.
Of course, God is evidently at work in your life if you are enjoying your relationship with Him. This will be seen in how you put Him first in everything. For example, upon waking up in the morning, the first thing you love to do is spend time with Him through prayer and meditating on His Word.
Another proof that you love your walk with the Lord is your hunger for His presence. You love studying His Word, fellowshipping with other believers, and using your talents and abilities to serve Him. These become your stress-reliever from the daily pressures of the world.
5. Your Purpose and Direction are Becoming Clearer.
Once you know your identity in Christ, your purpose becomes clear to you—and that is to glorify God in everything. Usually, this comes with the revelation of your calling. The Lord blesses His children with spiritual gifts that can be used in ministering to others. These gifts are usually according to their calling. If you are aware of God’s purpose for your life, your direction becomes clear too.
Romans 12:6-8 reveals some of the spiritual gifts: “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
6. You Become Humble and Teachable.
God works on the character of every believer. He wants every follower of Christ to reflect His character truly. That is why He will eventually remove your pride. It may not happen overnight, and you may struggle along the process, but as you continue to abide in Jesus, you will learn humility. This is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, and you need it so you can be teachable.
Humility and having a teachable heart are necessary so God can mold you into the person He wants you to be. He wants you to be Christlike, and you are equipped to do His will. As you exhibit the character of Jesus, the Lord’s goodness, compassion, and power will manifest through you.
7. He Uses You to Help Others.
As you follow God’s will for your life, He will use to touch lives and lead more people to Christ. You will be the Lord’s channel of blessings and answered prayers. You will be His hands and feet in reaching out to those who need Him.
Even your life testimony—no matter how dark your past is—will be an encouragement to the lost and broken. They will be drawn to Christ because they have seen the miracles He has done in your life. You will be an inspiration to many.
8. There is Provision Wherever You Go.
God will not be leading you to His will without providing what you will need. If you go somewhere where you are sure He wants you to be, the Lord will bless you. You may not become rich, but it will be evident that He will provide for your needs on time. This is why missionaries do not worry about provision as they obey God’s will to preach the gospel to foreign lands.
Matthew 6:31-34 encourages believers: “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Continue to Follow Christ
Committing yourself to live for Christ is the greatest decision you could ever make. However, it will not be an easy journey. The more you seek to follow Him and the more He uses you, the more the enemy will destroy you. But do not worry because the Lord is with you. He is faithful.
Psalm 31:24 promises, “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.”
