Romans 12:18

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as getting revenge on someone who has wronged you. The feeling of satisfaction and justice can be overwhelming, and it’s something that we all crave at one point or another. But is revenge worth it?

On the one hand, taking revenge can feel great. You finally get to stand up for yourself and put the person who hurt you in their place. And let’s face it, sometimes people deserve to be punished for the pain they’ve caused.

But on the other hand, revenge can also be a destructive force. It can lead to more conflict and violence, and it can cause you to become consumed by anger and hatred. Not to mention, getting revenge rarely actually solves the problem at hand – it just makes you feel better in the moment.

So what’s the verdict? Is revenge ever a good idea?

There’s no easy answer, but it’s important to weigh the pros and cons before taking action. And remember, revenge is only worth it if you’re prepared to deal with the consequences. Otherwise, you might end up causing more harm than good.

What Does Bible Say About Revenge?

The Bible has a lot to say about revenge. In the Old Testament, the book of Leviticus instructs us not to take revenge on our enemies (Leviticus 19:18). And in the New Testament, Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44).

Despite what we are told in Scripture, many people still seek revenge when they have been wronged. But is revenge worth it?

When we seek revenge, we are only giving into our anger and hatred. This can lead to more violence and hurt feelings. It also takes away our focus on God and His will for our lives.

Instead of seeking revenge, we should forgive those who have wronged us. This does not mean that we forget what they did, but it does mean that we release them from the hold that their actions have on our lives. Forgiveness is hard, but it is worth it.

If you are struggling to forgive someone who has hurt you, talk to God about it. He will give you the strength and wisdom you need to let go of your anger and pain. And He will help you to see the other person through His eyes of love and mercy.
