What Is Agape Love?

Agape love is the highest form of love that exists. It is unconditional, selfless, and forgiving. Agape love is the type of love that God has for us. It is also the type of love that we should have for others.

Agape love is not based on how the other person treats us. It is not based on whether or not the other person loves us back. Agape love is given freely and unconditionally, no matter what.

Agape love is sacrificial. It puts the needs of others above our own. Agape love is often called “unconditional love.” This means that it does not depend on anything in return. Agape love is not a feeling; it is a decision to love someone no matter what.

Agape love is also forgiving. It does not keep track of wrongs that have been done to us. Agape love chooses to forgive and forget. This does not mean that we condone the wrong that was done. It simply means that we choose to release the person from the debt they owe us.

Agape love is also selfless. It is not about getting something in return. Agape love is about giving without expecting anything in return. It is about meeting the needs of others, even when it is not convenient for us.

Agape love is the highest form of love because it goes against our human nature. Our human nature is selfish and desires to be loved in return. But agape love is not about what we can get; it is about what we can give. When we love unconditionally, we are living out the true meaning of love.

How Can We Show Agape Love?

We can show agape love by our actions. We can choose to forgive instead of holding a grudge. We can choose to put the needs of others above our own. We can choose to help those in need, even when it is not convenient for us.

When we live out agape love, we are reflecting the love of God. We are showing others that we care about them and that we are willing to sacrifice our own needs for theirs. When we love unconditionally, we are living out the true meaning of love.

What Does Bible Say About Agape Love?

The Bible speaks about agape love in many different ways. Agape love is the highest form of love, and it is a love that is unconditional and selfless. Agape love is the type of love that God has for us, and it is a love that is always there, no matter what.

The Bible tells us that agape love is patient and kind. It does not envy or boast. It is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its way. It is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Agape love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Agape love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV

This passage from 1 Corinthians 13 is often called the “love chapter” because it so beautifully describes what agape love looks like. We see here that agape love is not just a feeling or an emotion. Rather, it is a decision to love others selflessly and unconditionally, no matter what the cost.

Agape love is the type of love that we are called to have for one another. It is a love that is not based on anything that the other person does or does not do. Rather, it is a love that is given freely and unconditionally.

When we choose to love others with agape love, we are choosing to see them as God sees them. We are choosing to see their potential and their worth, no matter what they may have done in the past. We are choosing to forgive them, just as God has forgiven us.

Agape love is a powerful force in the world, and it is something that we are all called to share with others. When we love others with agape love, we are reflecting the love of God to them. We are showing them that they are valuable and worth fighting for. We are giving them a glimpse of the hope and the future that God has for them.
