Bible Verses About Fighting Battles (KJV)

Exodus 14:14

When we face difficult times, it can feel like we are fighting a battle. But the Bible tells us that our real battles are not against other people or even against the circumstances we find ourselves in. Our real battles are spiritual, and they are waged against the spiritual forces of evil.

The Bible tells us to put on the full armor of God so that we can stand firm amid these spiritual battles (Ephesians 6:11-18). When we are properly equipped with God’s armor, we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes. We can resist his temptations and withstand his attacks. And we can proclaim the gospel of peace amid a hostile world.

So how do we put on the armor of God? First, we need to know what it is. The armor of God consists of six pieces:

1. The belt of truth.

This piece of armor represents Jesus himself, who is the truth (John 14:6). When we wear the belt of truth, we are aligning ourselves with Jesus and his truth.

2. The breastplate of righteousness.

This piece of armor represents our righteousness in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). When we wear the breastplate of righteousness, we are protected by the righteousness of Christ.

3. The shoes of the gospel of peace.

These represent our role in spreading the good news about Jesus to a lost and dying world (Romans 10:15). When we wear the shoes of the gospel of peace, we are proclaiming peace to a world that is at war with God.

4. The shield of faith.

This piece of armor represents our faith in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 11:6). When we raise the shield of faith, we are deflecting the enemy’s fiery arrows of doubt and unbelief.

5. The helmet of salvation.

This piece of armor represents our hope in salvation through Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:8). When we wear the helmet of salvation, we are declaring our hope in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.

6. The sword of the Spirit.

This piece of armor represents the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). When we wield the sword of the Spirit, we are using the power of God’s Word to defeat the enemy’s lies.

The armor of God is available to every follower of Christ. So if you’re feeling like you’re in a battle today, put on the armor of God and take your stand. Remember, the victory has already been won! (Colossians 2:15)
