There is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of how to seek God. Every person’s journey is unique, and each individual must find his or her own way to connect with the divine.

However, there are some general principles that can be helpful for anyone who wants to deepen their relationship with God. First, it is important to remember that seeking God is not a passive activity. You cannot simply sit back and wait for God to come to you; you must actively go out and search for him.

Second, seekers must be open to receive whatever God has to offer. This means being willing to let go of preconceived notions about who God is and what he is like, and being open to hearing new truths about him.

Finally, it is important to be persistent in one’s search for God. The journey may not always be easy, but those who stick with it will eventually find themselves in a place of deep connection with the divine.

The Bible does give us some principles that can guide our seeking.

First, we must remember that seeking God is not about trying to earn His favor or doing things to try to impress Him. Rather, it is about coming to Him with humility and a desire to know Him more.

“If you seek him, he will be found by you,” (1 Chronicles 28:9).

This verse reminds us that when we seek God with a sincere heart, He will reveal Himself to us. We don’t have to try to find Him on our own; He will make Himself known.

Another principle we see in Scripture is that we must be careful not to seek God in the wrong places. Just as we wouldn’t go to a doctor for legal advice, we shouldn’t go to the world for spiritual guidance. The world doesn’t have the answers we’re looking for; only God does.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts,” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

When we seek God’s guidance, we can trust that He will lead us in His perfect way. We don’t need to worry that we’re not doing things the right way; we can trust that God will direct our steps.

Finally, as we seek God, we must be prepared to change. Seeking God is not a passive activity; it requires effort and intentionality. And as we grow in our relationship with God, He will likely begin to change us. He may reveal areas of our lives that need to be different, and He will give us the strength to change.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will,” (Romans 12:2).

As we seek God, He will transform us into His image. We will become more like Him, and our lives will begin to reflect His character.

These are just a few of the principles we see in Scripture about seeking God. As you seek Him, ask Him to reveal Himself to you and to show you His will for your life. Seek Him with a humble heart, and be prepared to change as He reveals Himself to you.
