6 Affirmations To Improve Your Quality Of Life

The quality of your life is determined by the happiness, comfort, and well-being you feel. Quality of life is one of the categories in Lifebook that isn’t so easy to create goals around. It can be an abstract part of life that takes a seat behind other categories when you are creating goals and envisioning things for yourself. But it’s also a very important category. While the other categories in life do influence your quality of life, there are things you can affirm to yourself to improve the quality of your life directly.

6 Affirmations You Can Use To Boost Your Quality Of Life

Quality of Life

1. Sometimes Things In Life Will Suck And I Choose To React In A Helpful Way

“There are parts of everyone’s life that truly just blow. And it’s about how you react to that which defines the quality of your life. ” – Shane Burcaw

If you don’t know who Shane Burcaw is, I HIGHLY recommend watching his YouTube Channel with his wife Hannah. Shane has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, but he also has a very big sense of humor and sense of purpose in his life.

I love this wisdom from Shane, and it can be turned into an affirmation that helps you improve your quality of life no matter what is going on.

When you affirm to yourself that life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes things outright BLOW, you will not expect life to be a perfect story of rainbows and lollipops.

When you add to that affirmation with ‘I choose to react in a helpful way‘, you will find a way to react to situations with more grace and peace in your heart.

For Shane, he often uses humor to help him cope with the parts of life that blow.

You may use prayer or rational thinking or mindfulness or something else that keeps you from reacting in a way that brings you down and keeps you there.

Whatever it is that you use, it will help you improve your quality of life when crap happens and when it’s hard to find good things in your life.

2. I Find Meaning In What I Do For Work

Your health and happiness will suffer if you don’t have meaning in your work. Even people getting paid big bucks will find their quality of life decreases if their work drags them down and makes them miserable or resentful.

You have to find meaning in what you do, even if you don’t currently like what you do.

For instance, a friend of mine worked at a restaurant as a waitress and hated it. She hated the job, the hours, and – sometimes – the customers who came in. She was becoming more and more miserable every time I saw her. Then, one day we got together, and she was truly happy. She was able to see things in a positive light and was starting to improve other areas of her life that she had been neglecting because she had been so miserable. What happened? She found meaning in her work. There were many older couples who were coming to her restaurant, and she started engaging with them more. She found out that the restaurant was everything to them. It helped them get out of the house and spend some quality time together. When she realized that she was a part of their special experience, she found more meaning in her work. She realized that the people she was serving viewed eating out as something special, and she decided that she would make her customer’s experience there as good as she could.

Who do you get to help out with your job? Lonely people? Sad people? People in need?

What is special about your job? What does it allow you to do for others, the environment, or something else?

Every job helps something or someone.

Affirm that there is meaning in your work and find it. When you find that meaning in your work, your quality of life will improve.

3. I Am Constantly Learning

Want to improve the quality of your life? Grow as a person. Learn more about who you are and what you like. Improve your current skills and learn more skills.

There’s so much to learn in life that you will never stop, no matter how long you live. Even if you live to 150 years old, you can still learn.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss, but for the most part, learning will help you be more of who you want to be. It helps you create the environment you live in and helps you decide what you truly want in your life to make you happy.

In short, learning more about yourself and the world around you will drastically improve your quality of life.

4. I Am Constantly Challenging Myself

“The world would be a whole lot better place if everyone made a personal commitment to becoming the best person they could possibly be, and to strive for happiness, fulfillment, and self-actualization.” – Jon Butcher from Quality Of Life Category In Lifebook Online

There is a reason we have so many challenges on Hacks To Happy. Challenging yourself will help you grow and implement new, beneficial habits into your life, which will improve the quality of your life.

As Jon says, challenges help you make the world a better place by making yourself better. And both of those things are going to improve your quality of life.

5. I LOVE using positive affirmations

This is a good affirmation to use if you want to improve the quality of your life.

Your self-talk has everything to do with how happy you are and what happens in your life. It’s a huge reason we advocate improving your self-talk. And the best way to do it is through affirmations.

Sometimes you have to fake it until you make it. Sometimes you have to talk to yourself in a way that you want to talk to yourself in order to make those changes in your beliefs, habits, and behaviors.

The more you affirm something to yourself (either positive or negative) the more you believe it. And when belief kicks in, that’s when your quality of life can either take a turn for the worse (with negative affirmations or harmful affirmations) or a turn for the best (with positive affirmations and helpful affirmations).

What do you tell yourself over and over again that affects your quality of life negatively? Find a better thought and start affirming that to yourself instead.

6. There Are Things I Want To Do and Have, And I’m Constantly Working Towards Them

Life is about living in the moment, but if you don’t have something you are working towards, you will find yourself feeling sad and unmotivated in your days, which will decrease the quality of your life.

Not only does having things you are working towards help improve your quality of life, but when you achieve these things your quality of life will improve even further.

For instance, if you want a house by the beach, then hold that in your mind and work towards it. The act of working towards it will improve your quality of life, and when you finally get yourself into that beach house, your quality of life will definitely improve.

Remember, your quality of life is determined by many things, including the material things you have, the experiences you have, and the environments you are in. So create goals you want to reach around those things that will make you feel good, and then work towards them.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want?
  • What is it going to cost?
  • How can I get there?

Note: If you really want to improve the quality of your life, I highly recommend taking Lifebook Online through Mindvalley and getting clear on what you want in life and what a high quality of life looks like for you. Technically, as Jon says, the whole process of Lifebook is about increasing your quality of life. Once you get clear on what you want out of life, you can create your own personal affirmations that really hit home for your quality of life wants, needs, and goals.
