8 Ways to Truly Bless Your Relationship

1. Be righteous.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” – Matthew 5:6 (KJV)

God blesses the home of the righteous (see Proverbs 3:33). Their prayers are also effective and powerful (see James 5:16). Hence, to have a blessed relationship with your significant other, don’t just pray together, but pray together righteously as a couple. Pray to earn the Lord’s blessings, not earn people’s likes and attention. Be sincere and practice what you pray.

2. Obey God’s commands.

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.” – Psalm 119:1-2 (KJV)

To be righteous in the eyes of God and earn His blessings, obey his commandments. Together as a couple, love God with all your hearts, souls and minds, then love your neighbors as yourselves – these are the two greatest commandments (see Matthew 22:36-40). By loving your neighbors rather than fighting with them, you can make your relationship more inspiring to the people around you. It can also help you avoid enemies and bashers.

3. Depart from evil.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. – Psalm 1:1  (KJV)

You cannot have righteousness in your relationship if you’re still committing sins. Hence, stop doing them. Get rid of lies, wrath, greed, envy and other wickedness. As a couple, do your best to overcome evil together. Be honest with each other, understand each other, forgive each other, and be grateful to each other.

4. Be a generous couple.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)

Being a blessed couple is not about being rich or traveling around the world together. Being a genuinely blessed couple is winning God’s favor because you and your significant other have a kind and generous heart. Thus, do charitable works and give with a cheerful heart. Make helping the poor one of your best relationship goals.

5. Make peace.

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” – Matthew 5:9 (KJV)

Without peace, your relationship will not grow and prosper. Hence, get rid of pride, be humble, remove grudges, forgive each other, and always promote peace inside and outside your relationship.

6. Serve God.

“And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” – Exodus 23:25 (KJV)

Couples that worship the Lord together stay together. But how do you truly worship God? Is it by praying to Him, singing for Him or going to the house of worship? To truly worship God is to serve Him. Thus, as a couple, give your service to the Lord. Preach and practice the Words of God, help His people, and give glory to Him.

7. Trust the Lord.

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.!” – Psalm 34:8 (KJV)

When your relationship is in trouble, when you and your special one are in pain and despair, seek refuge in God. Trust the Lord and ask His guidance. When God is the center of your relationship, you have the best protection and blessings are poured into it.

8. Bless your enemy.

“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.” – 1 Peter 3:9 (ESV)

It may be hard to do, but if you really want blessings to come into your life, love your enemies, pray for them, and bless them. If you and your significant other have fights and quarrels, don’t trade hatred with hatred but with love. Be a couple who bless each other and bless other people. Do these things to receive the Lord’s blessing.

Have a blessed life with your loved ones!
