5 Affirmations To Help You Stop Letting Other People’s Opinions Determine How You Live Your Life

Everyone has an opinion. Many people think that their opinion is the right one, so they are pretty convincing when they give it to you. But that doesn’t mean that it is right for you.

If you let their opinions stop you from doing things that you want to do, then you are letting their opinions determine your life.  Could you imagine if the people who have done great things in the world today had let other people’s opinions determine their life?

Every single person who has done amazing things or who has lived an amazing life has had people’s negative or contradicting opinions thrown at them every step of the way. But, thankfully, they kept going on their own path. And you can too. Use the following affirmations to stop letting other people’s opinions determine your life.

1. Those Who Matter Don’t Mind And Those Who Mind Don’t Matter

I love Holly’s affirmation that helps her live her life without worrying about other people’s opinions.

“Those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter”.

If I’m ever doing anything for me – whether it’s buying a new dress, changing my career, or tweeting my opinion on Trump – I do it with this in mind: No matter what I do, the people in my life love and respect me as I am. They will always support what I do if I believe it is the right thing for me. Anyone who doesn’t support me is not relevant. Letting go of irrelevant opinions takes off a huge weight! – honestlyholly23 (Honestly Holly )

2. I Don’t Let Other People’s Opinions Affect Me Negatively

Opinion: An opinion is a judgment, viewpoint, or statement that is not conclusive.

Remember when you were young and didn’t automatically agree with other people’s opinions? For instance, when you danced around wildly because it felt good, and you didn’t listen to the people who told you that you were acting silly and should stop… or was that just me?

If something feels good to you, then do it. If it’s not hurting anyone and it’s adding something to your life – happiness, fun, joy, success – then why stop because of someone else’s opinion?

I’ve seen numerous YouTubers who get negative opinions about what they do all the time, and some of those YouTubers let those opinions affect them so much that they stop being who they want to be. But, the YouTubers who keep doing what they love are the ones who create videos that mean something to them.

Don’t let other people’s opinions affect you negatively. Remember, they don’t know what makes you feel alive or what will bring you abundance, so they can’t objectively help you live your best life possible – only you can. That’s why only your opinion matters in the end.

3. I’m Proud Of Who I Am

If you really want to stop letting other people’s opinions dictate your life, then it’s time to get really proud of who you are. When you are proud of who you are and what you do, other people won’t be able to affect you as much.

For instance, I have a friend who does many great things in her life, and one of them is picking up garbage on her walks in town. She loves doing this because it helps clean up her town and gives her a sense of contribution to the town. But, she has faced her fair share of opinions. Some people on her walks tell her that picking up garbage is beneath her. It’s for dirty people who are looking for money or food. They tell her that she looks low-class when she does it and try to make her feel like she is something less than she is. It sounds crazy that people even care to judge someone picking up garbage, but this happens more than you would think. Dirty looks and negative opinions happen almost every time she goes out. But, she knows who she is and why she is doing what she’s doing – and she’s proud of herself.

When you are proud of who you are and what you do, other people’s judgments are not going to matter as much. So, affirm to yourself constantly that you are proud of who you are.

4. I Am The Only One Responsible For My Self-Esteem

The only person who can give you high self-esteem is yourself. That’s why it’s called self-esteem!

When you put too much stock in other people’s opinions, you lose stock in your own. You are so busy trying to get self-esteem from other people, that you don’t have time to boost your self-esteem.

Remember, other people are not always going to pat you on the back and tell you how great you are. In fact, a lot of the time they are going to tell you that you are wrong in the way you live, act, and behave. They can make you feel worthless, and that can cause you to change your life around to something you don’t want.

Don’t let other people be responsible for your self-esteem. Give yourself pep talks. Use positive affirmations to remind yourself of who you are and how great you are. And then live your life according to what continuously helps you to boost your self-esteem.

5. Every Person Is Special And Has Unique Ways Of Expressing Themselves

This is a very important affirmation to help you see that other people’s opinions are not facts that you need to take to heart.

When you recognize that other people are perfect just the way they are, you start to accept that you are perfect just the way you are.

Every time you see someone, and you start to form your own negative opinion about them, say this affirmation to yourself: Every person is special and has unique ways of expressing themselves. This will allow you to push aside the judgment, see their value, and appreciate their uniqueness.

It will also help you to see your value and appreciate your uniqueness when you see or hear judgments towards you.
